Overview

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino acid peptide corresponding to the first 29 amino acids of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29). It is studied in research for its GHRH receptor agonist activity and its effects on somatotroph signaling and GH secretion dynamics.

Research Use Only

This product is intended for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human consumption, therapeutic, or diagnostic use. Handle in accordance with good laboratory practices.

What Is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino acid GHRH analogue (GHRH 1-29) that activates the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs. It is a standard research tool for studying GH secretion dynamics and GHRH receptor biology. Supplied as a lyophilized research peptide.

History

Sermorelin was developed as the minimal bioactive fragment of the 44-amino acid human GHRH. Research in the 1980s established that the first 29 amino acids retained full GHRH receptor binding and activation properties. It has been extensively used in endocrinology research as a reference GHRH receptor agonist.

Research Findings

Published studies demonstrate that Sermorelin binds the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs, activating cAMP/PKA-dependent GH transcription and secretion. Research has characterized its dose-response relationships, GH pulse amplification effects, and interactions with somatostatin-mediated inhibitory tone. It remains a standard reference compound in GH axis physiology research.
